Our Work


Are we more than just talk? The best way to understand the NewSof Group is to look at the work we DO. The following is a brief overview of a sample of NewSof clients.


The American Cancer Society


The ACS had a need to provide social support system for cancer survivors and their caregivers regardless of their location. We were asked to design, develop, and evaluate a means to do this using both Internet and telephonic medium. The result is the Cancer Survivors Network.
The Cancer Survivors Network (CSN) is a telephone and Internet-based service created to provide cancer survivors and their caregivers a national community support system - http://www.acscsn.org. Consumers can listen to or read talk-radio-type programming or "shows" that specifically address their concerns. Programming is matched to specific demographics and certain types and stages of cancer.
In addition to listening to cancer survivors in the prerecorded, menu-accessible program, users have the option of connecting with others who are registered users. The goal is to create connections among people in the survivorship community-both survivors and caregivers-who can give and receive needed support

The Dairy Council of California


The NewSof Group is facilitating the planning and long-term development effort to create the state of the art in interactive nutrition education and behavior change services that will be considered the de facto standard for nutrition educational programming in the United States. The goals of this work are to: 1) create a plan which prioritizes educational and intervention opportunities, interventions, and products and; 2) Provide the specifications for all new products and 3) outline the partnerships, specifications, tactics, costs, and revenue opportunities, 4) build out and manage all of the identified.
Two sets of web applications are currently under development. One is a community support system for teachers across the state of California, the Virtual Teachers Lounge, www.virtualteacherslounge.org. The second service is designed to provide weekly and daily meal planning support, food selection and purchasing, and tailored educational support to encourage families eating healthy foods and eating together.

HealthLift


The NewSof Group created the content and algorithms for a smoking cessation program that can effectively take advantage of Healthlift's patent integrating tailoring with daily incremental behavioral intervention. The algorithmic design required high reach and impact in a complex process, not solved through a single intervention, but rather through a series of integrated steps that become a full solution. The key objectives and goals of the product were:
* To serve as an architecture for building a smoking cessation online tailored intervention that can provide the most comprehensive personal support and guidance possible in helping an individual quit smoking
* To demonstrate how tailoring and day-to-day intervention can be an effective means of delivering a highly effective smoking cessation program
* To demonstrate that the smoking cessation program can be used as a template for the creation of a series of health behavior change programs
* To validate the application of the patent for the purpose of furthering business opportunities of HealthLift

Lifemasters


Lifemasters provides a wide variety of disease management services for healthcare systems and healthplans across the United States. Much of disease management requires a focus on an array of health related behaviors that impact patient health status and their ability to take care of themselves. In the majority of cases, patients are not 'prepared' and/or 'ready' to initiate some or all of these behavior changes. Many of the nursing staff is uncomfortable attempting to intervene with patients who are not ready. The NewSof Group was asked to build a training regimen to improve the Lifemasters nurse's skill base to help patients who are not ready to change move along the continuum of readiness so that they are more likely to make change on their own or through other specific risk and/or disease management interventions.

March of Dimes


The NewSof Group was contracted to assess the current status of the MOD's worksite based prenatal education programs. The work entailed an assessment of the desired outcomes of the MOD, a market scan of competitor programming, interviews and focus groups with employers (those that use the existing programming, though that use competitor programming, those that offer no services at this time), and the development of recommendations for the redesign and marketing of the program to meet the markets current and future needs.

Pediatrix Medical Group


Pediatrix, the largest Neo-Natalogist /Perinatologist physician practice management company it the United States, delivers approximately 12% of all high-risk babies in the United States. Pediatrix selected The NewSof Group to guide aggressive eBusiness planning and development effort to determine its Web service priorities, e-commerce top priority strategies, valuation enhancement and eBusiness development tactics.

Procter & Gamble


It is futile to change a culture by using the same tactics that have been always used. Seminars alone, even seminars made available through new media communication technologies will not be sufficient. It is a bit like the Inspector Louie, in the film Casablanca, who is always telling his police to, "round up the usual suspects". If the usual tactics are used to create and take advantage of discontinuities in creating new markets, products and services, there is little reason to expect success.
The NewSof Group was contracted to create a plan for exponentially improving the online training capabilities of Procter & Gamble and create more effective strategies for the creation and infusion of innovation into the company. The need for innovation is growing and this need will accelerate into the future. NewSof's work formalized a plan for the conception and implementation of a coordinated set of intervention technologies specifically intended to create an ongoing means to support change throughout the company.

Glaxo Smith Kline


The NewSof Group designed, marketed and delivered two regional conferences for large employers, care delivery systems, physicians, and managed care organizations. The purpose of the conference was to present the potential uses of new media technologies and their impact on healthcare in the future
As part of the Goldstein Group, NewSof has provided consultation to GSM regarding developing more effective means to track global e-business opportunities and internal development
As part of Hastings Healthcare, NewSof developed the algorithms for a consumer-oriented health risk appraisal.
