Michael Spaly Michael Spaly, Director Operations, has provided technical leadership on a variety of key NewSof projects. Before joining The NewSof Group, Michael was an independent technology consultant specializing in the design and programming of open-source web applications. Michael’s experience includes taking projects from start to finish as well as taking a specialized role on teams of many sizes His clients have included Nonprofit Enterprise at Work, Pfizer, University of Michigan Art Museum, and Omnilala, Inc., Michael has worked on a wide variety of projects with many types of clients. As a programmer, Michael has architected and built online applications including content management systems, online resource directories, distributed media applications, and numerous other on and offline applications. As a designer, Michael has designed websites, desktop applications, and media hardware. As an expert in usability, Michael has helped with consultation and redesigns on applications ranging from websites and intranet applications to educational tools. Beyond his technical skills, Michael’s role as an independent consultant helped him develop a deep understanding of client needs. At any one time, Michael could be found juggling up to ten distinct projects. Michael’s strength comes from combining these numerous experiences and perspectives to each project he undertakes. Michael holds a Masters Degree in Information Science from the University of Michigan. At the U of M, he specialized in Human Computer Interaction – a mixture of Usability, Information Architecture, and Interaction Design. Michael also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology from the University of Colorado.
